Kids Search: It’s About Relevancy
Saturday, April 16th, 2011An article from BBC gave us a clue that relevancy is what all kids websites should serve, safety comes afterwards (simply because it’s pretty hard to ensure that your child does not get inappropriate content since they could access internet from anywhere now; schools, neighbors, etc.
Here are some texts from the BBC’s article:
Bear in mind, however, that no search engine or software can guarantee that your child will never see anything you disapprove of. The most certain approach to internet safety is adult supervision.

After reading this article, we found out an advertisement displayed on Google when we were looking for some kids related queries. The name of this site is Kongoroo [2]. It has clean appearance and friendly user interface. The great thing about this site is that kids need to choose their gender and age before using the site. It’s about relevancy.
Jana Broderick, the founder, said on the site
We adults have Google. We have the power to explore the web. On her own, she (her daughter) can’t.
Since internet broadband is easily accessed anywhere, kids and teenagers seem to now switch from using software to streaming on the internet when playing or even researching.
Relevancy connects user and their properties. Delivering search result by age and gender will be a great feature for kids (we remember that Piffany has this feature but it seems that they are still upgrading their software).
