Kids Search Kigose
Saturday, September 6th, 2008Kigose is a web project that is aimed to create a search engine for kids and teenagers which finds information from educational websites. The main goal is to give a safe search result from trusted educational websites. This project has begun since November 2007 when some classroom teachers found out that that some of their students retrieved mature content during computer lesson from general search engines. There had been many development on this site since then.
The name Kigose is actually a shortened form of kids google search although Kigose is not owned by Google Inc. Based on our survey, kids are more familiar with Google when they are looking for something on the internet and some of them felt that just because they are kids, they don’t have to use kids search engine. This is why Kigose is also promoted as school search engine too. Our target audience is K-12 students or teenagers below 15 year olds.
